SAIX is designed as a Spine-n-leaf architecture with a backplane supporting expansion to 2 Tbps and beyond. SAIX Layer 2 has a group of edge switches (Fabric Edges) that are connected through core backbone switches (Fabric Core) using 100G interfaces. Redundant route servers are used to propagate routes for members without carrying any traffic. The below figure depicts SAIX topology.
